The latest pricing promotion at "download-to-own" platform EzyFlix aims to take out the "Australian tax", and bring digital download prices in-line with the cheaper pricing found in the US.
One of the biggest complaints Aussie consumers have in regards to digital purchases is often the pricing differential between local and overseas copies for the same content. While the situation has improved somewhat thanks to a weakening Australian Dollar, Australian consumers are still being asked to pay more for the same thing.
To alleviate the problem, EzyFlix is running a promotion that will give Australians a fair go (and then some). Hit new releases like 'Guardians of the Galaxy', 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' and 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' will be available at the reduced price of $16.99 (compared to up to $24.99 on other platforms), which provides you with a digital download-to-down copy of these films, playable on a variety of mobile and home entertainment devices.
EzyFlix's early Christmas present does come at a cost ... to EzyFlix. "We’re operating a loss leading strategy to deliver better value and access to box office hits," says EzyFlix CEO Craig White.
"It's outrageous that Aussies don't have access to the same prices as other movie-loving nations when it comes to digital content. We are proud to be the first provider to deliver a premium digital service to locals without inflated the price tag," says Mr White.
The special holiday pricing will be available until Christmas.
