Australian streaming outfit Presto has announced they have secured the rights to at least five of the top 10 box office hits of 2015, to be available for instant streaming for Presto Movies and Entertainment subscribers in 2016.
All five box office hits, including 'Jurassic World', 'Furious 7', 'Minions', 'Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation', and '50 Shades of Grey', will be available to Presto subscribers exclusively in 2016 as the subscription streaming service flexes its Foxtel (and Channel Seven, and soon, Channel Ten) backed muscles.
Based on Box Office Mojo's list of top grossing movies in 2015 so far, Presto is set to make available at least 15 of the top 30 movies, easily beating what Presto's SVOD rivals, Stan and Netlix, will be able to offer.
Presto CEO Shaun James was eager to highlight the advantage having a Presto subscription for those that want to watch the biggest movies.
"We’re extremely proud of the incredible collection of recent, exclusive SVOD hits that Presto Entertainment provides to its customers and are thrilled to continue the tradition of supplying the very best selection of the best and biggest Hollywood blockbusters. Today’s news is further proof that you’ll be hard pressed to find a better subscription video on demand streaming service offering the most complete and up-to-date collection of TV and movies from any competitor service in Australia," said James.
With the year's biggest movie, 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', still to come, it's unknown if any of Australia's SVOD offerings will follow Netflix Canada's lead in securing the SVOD rights to this very likely box office record breaking movie.
