Stan: What's New For 17 August - 23 August 2021

A somewhat quieter week this past week on Stan, but we still have a few great streaming picks for you.

Television:

"Based on the Stephen King short story" is usually a good sign of a quality piece of horror/mystery, and Chapelwaite, starring Adrien Brody, doesn't seem to be the exception to this rule. Chapelwaite is based on the short story "Jerusalem’s Lot", and new episodes will be arriving weekly.

New British series MotherFatherSon has a "Succession" feel to it when it comes to the storyline, and it also stars Richard Gere - no need to wait for episodes with this one, the entire first season is already available for streaming.

And we also have a new season of Work in Progress.

Movies, Documentaries:

Wonderful World of Puppies and Kittens is just the thing we need now that the majority of Australians are now in lockdown. Think of it as a soul cleanse.

How is it that I've managed to miss the movie Wind River back when it was released in 2018, despite it starting not one but two Marvel alumni in the form of Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, and is written and directed by the creator of "Yellowstone" and the writer of the excellent "Sicario". And it's a quality crime drama as well. It's a no-brainer addition to my Stan watch list.

And while this is definitely one that I would have recommended watching on the biggest IMAX screen you can find, Gravity is still very much worth a watch on Stan (just find the biggest screen you can, or at least a good pair of headphones, for the full immersive experience).
