The first quarter is usually a time of change. This is because the holidays bring with it a greater demand for streaming to pass the time. And gift subscriptions also add to the influx of new streaming users. However, the first quarter of 2024 saw practically no changes in the Australian streaming landscape.

Thanks to data provided by streaming search engine JustWatch, we can finally see just how well each streaming service is doing in Australia for the first quarter of 2024.

Small fluctuations existed for almost all the platforms, which is normal. Netflix's market share remained unchanged at 26%, Amazon Prime Video's share increased from 20% to 21%, while Disney+ dropped from 17% to 16%. Binge's share grew from 11% to 12%, with Stan, Paramount+ and Foxtel Now remaining the same. The "Other" category, which includes platforms like Apple TV+ and Hayu, dropped from 6% to 5%.

In terms of changes in market share through the first 3 months of 2024, this is reflected in the second set of graphs shown below

Amazon Prime Video, Binge and Paramount+ seem to be on an upward trajectory, Disney+ and Foxtel Now are on the slide. However with only 3 months of data, the sample size is too small to make any conclusions in terms of the general trend.
