Stan: What's New For March 27 - April 2, 2018

Happy Easter! It may very well be a long weekend for almost everyone, but there's never a a rest for the content boffins at Stan. So let's take a look at what's been happening on Stan this past week. For a complete preview of what's coming in April, please don't forget to look here.

For TV content, there's another big batch of excellent BBC shows for streaming, but the highlights for me are SS-GB and Planet Earth II. The latter needs no description, but the former is a new mini-series from the Beeb based on the best selling alternative history novel by Len Deighton. Alternate as in Germany actually defeats Britain during the Battle of Britain, and follows it up with a full invasion. With the UK fully conquered, the story focuses on Detective Superintendent Douglas Archer, of the London's Metropolitan Police, as he investigates a curious murder which draws the unwanted attention of the SS. Interesting stuff.

There is also the "Good Wife" spin-off series The Good Fight, the complete season one ready for streaming right away.

For movies, we follow on from last week's 'White House Down' to this week's London Has Fallen - not really sequels, but actually competing series, but the same type of film you have to admit. Aussie film fans will love (or maybe hate) That's Not My Dog!, the new Shane Jacobson comedy that was only in cinemas a couple of months ago. A film that's more like an anthology of jokes, the critics hated it, but it's not like they've never been wrong, right?
