The Foxtel and Seven West Media owned streaming platform Presto has announced that HD streaming will become available for selected titles on supported devices. Presto made the announcement via its website, notifying users of a change in the terms and conditions that added information on HD streaming. The specific changes state:

"High definition is available on selected Devices and is not available for all content. To view high definition content, you will require an effective line bandwidth of at least 4 Mbps. However, high definition availability varies depending on a number of factors, including but not limited to your location, Device, available bandwidth and/or speed of your internet connection."

The addition of HD finally allows Presto to compete, picture quality wise, with rivals Stan and Netflix. The latter also offers content in 4K Ultra HD.

Presto also announced separately that a deal has been struck with BBC TV to allow Presto subscribers access to nearly 100 hours of BBC documentaries featuring well known BBC personalities including Louis Theroux, Michael Palin and Stephen Fry. Featured titles include The Quest for Noah’s Ark with Joanna Lumley, An African Journey with Jonathan Dimbleby and Australia with Simon Reeve.

These documentaries will be available from July 17 for Presto TV and Presto Entertainment subscribers.
