Awards season has kicked off in Hollywood with the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards® bestowing trophies upon the industry’s best films and television series of the past year and as always, gilding its brightest stars.

Though often dismissed as the Oscar’s poor cousin, the Golden Globes is a useful tool for discovering some of the best new entertainment coming out of Tinseltown. And with the advent of video streaming services here in Australia, subscribers can access this new content faster and easier than ever before.

Let’s take a look at where you can find Golden Globe winners and nominees.

Presto leads the pack in Golden Globe-winning TV content. Perhaps its biggest coup is Mr. Robot, the new TV series centred around a young computer programmer who suffers social anxiety disorder and is recruited by a mysterious anarchist known only as Mr. Robot. The crime drama not only won Best Television Series – Drama but snagged Best Supporting Actor for Hollywood veteran, Christian Slater. All episodes of Series 1 is now available for streaming and Season 2 will be coming first to Presto later this year.

Nominated alongside Mr. Robot for Best Drama Series and currently streaming for Australian audiences are, Narcos (Netflix) and Game of Thrones (Foxtel Play).

Acclaimed series, Mad Men, secured a second Golden Globe for its star, Jon Hamm, a fitting farewell for his character, Don Draper, the ultimate anti-hero. All 7 series are currently available for streaming on Presto. Also streaming, Season 1 of The Affair which earned Maura Tierney a Best Supporting Actress win for her turn as a betrayed wife.

Comedic drama, Mozart in the Jungle, took out Best Series (Comedy or Musical) and Best Actor for Gael García Bernal. Stan is currently streaming the first two seasons. Fellow Stan stablemate, Transparent, about one very unconventional L.A. family with lots of secrets, lost out in both categories. Also on Stan is series nominee Flesh and Bone, which follows troubled dancer, Claire, as she navigates the often cutthroat world of professional ballet in New York City.

But though Presto may boast the most wins, Netflix certainly leads the pack for nominated TV. Cult hit, Orange is the New Black, starring Taylor Schilling as prison inmate, Piper Chapman, was nominated for Best Television Comedy, and Uzo Aduba who plays Crazy Eyes missed out on the Best Supporting Actress award.

For more Golden Globe-nominated TV on Netflix, check out Grace and Frankie, Jane the Virgin, American Horror Story, House of Cards, Downton Abbey and Master of None. Perrenial Australian actor, Ben Mendelsohn, received his very first Golden Globe nomination for his incredible work in Bloodline. Season 1 of this complex family drama with sinister undertones is streaming now on Netflix.

In the world of film, accolades were heaped upon The Revenant which took out Best Motion Picture - Drama as well as delivering its star, Leonardo Di Caprio, his third Golden Globe win for Best Actor. At the film’s helm, Alejandro Iñárritu took out Best Director. Similarly, The Martian was awarded Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy and its star, Matt Damon, took home the award in his category.

Hollywood’s golden girl, Jennifer Lawrence, was named Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical (an astonishing third Golden Globe in four years) for her role in Joy, the semi-biographical film based on the life of Miracle Mop inventor and self-made millionaire, Joy Mangano.

Brie Larson took out Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her work in Room, the film based on the book by Irish novelist, Emma Donoghue.

Of course, many of these films are still in cinemas here in Australia so where they’ll find their streaming home here in Australia remains to be seen, but with so many great new films nominated, we will watch with keen anticipation.
