Welcome to a brand new year of looking at what's been happening on Stan. It may be a new year, but in many ways, it's really just another week at Stan, made a tiny bit more special because it's the start of the month. As usual, you can find the preview for the entirety of January here, if you want to look ahead to what's coming to Stan.
So, not much happening in TV land it seems, with a new episode of 'RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars' being the only continuing series to air a new episode over the New Year festivities. There is an advanced preview for the second season of SMILF though, but you'll have to wait until later in the month for more episodes.
Not a huge list of movie additions either, but there are a few highlights (and quite a few lowlights, but we won't talk about them). From acclaimed director Peter Berg comes Patriots Day, a stylish film that details the events before, during and after the Boston Marathon bombing. Now, I watched the film on a sick day, when I stupidly jammed my fingers in the car door, so it was through great pain that I watched this film. But it was riveting enough for me to escape the pain for a little while, so that's a recommendation I guess.
And from a time when most supehero movies were less than super comes The Green Hornet, which despite having been critically dismissed, did earn a good amount of money. Plus, it stars Asian superstar Jay Chou.
And from Norway comes the accomplished fantasy horror Thelma. A drama about oppressed sexual desires fused with an X-Men film, is probably the best way to describe this movie.
Here's the complete list of the new additions to Stan for the week of January 1 - 7, 2019 (Content highlighted above shown in bold below):
