Last year's (real) best picture, remembering a lost friend, and the perfect pairs. These are just some of the highlights this week. Read on to find out more.
New series A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and Stath Lets Flats have just joined Stan, with the complete first season of the former, and the first three seasons of the latter.
The complete series of StartUp is also available, all three seasons. And the king of all complete series, at least on streaming and syndication - every episode of Friends is now available to stream on Stan, a perfect time to catch-up with old friends, and remembering lost ones. There is also the Friends: The Reunion special, featuring some last interviews for the late and great Matthew Perry.
The Zone of Interest is, in my opinion, the best film from 2023 and one of the most important due to recent events. It's a deliberately cold look at how seemingly ordinary people not only tolerates genocide, but actively take part and take advantage of it. However you watch it, on a big screen or a small one, make sure you do it with a good sound system or a good pair of headphones - the sound design in this movie is half of the story.
Indie film The Florida Project has pretty good reviews and I'll be interested in checking it out.
The other highlights this week highlight the perfect pairing that sometimes happens due to quirks of the release slate.
Spider-Man: Far from Home and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse are very different films, not even set in the same dimension, but are a worthy pair.
Then there's more Jim Carrey genius in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.
There's also Hostel and Hostel: Part II for those that are fans of the genre, and finally,
two sports documentaries to add to the growing collection on Stan, I Am Ali and Manny.
And finally, true crime fans should check out Menendez Brothers: Victims or Villians.
