The Q1 2025 stats are out for the Australian streaming scene and it was pretty much the same as the last quarter, with only minor differences.
Thanks to data provided by streaming search engine JustWatch, we can finally see just how well each streaming service is doing in Australia for the first quarter of 2025.
There were only minor market share fluctuations amongst the major streaming platforms. Netflix's share dropped by 1%, Disney+ gained 1%, Stan gained 1% and Paramount+ lost 1%.
Looking back an entire year to Q1 2024, it was a very similar picture as well, with only minor changes between the platforms - the largest of which was Disney+ gaining two percentage points.
It will be interesting to see what this picture looks like when the Max numbers start flowing in next quarter, not only the addition of the new platform, but also the effect it has on Binge, where a lot of the content on Max used to reside.
In terms of changes in market share through the first 3 months of 2025, this is reflected in the second set of graphs shown below, with monthly changes shown in a slightly magnified fashion to show micro changes.
We see downward trends for Netflix, Binge, and upwards trends for Prime Video, Disney+, Stan and Paramount+.
