Once again, we compare the streaming performance Amazon's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" and HBO's "House of the Dragon" thanks to data collected by streaming search engine JustWatch (data includes subscription streaming as well as transactional streaming titles).
The data is in for the week ending September 25, 2022, and with both shows passing their half-way point, can we finally say which show is on top streaming wise?
In Australia, "House of the Dragon" continues in 7th place, but where is "Rings of Power"? In an ominous sign, the Amazon hyper-budget show has disappeared from the top 10. It's also worth noting again that JustWatch only counts streaming data, so there's actually more people not being included here who are watching "House of the Dragon" on traditional cable - there is no traditional cable audience for "Rings".
Neither show made the U.S. top 10 this week, so we'll skip this market for this week.
And finally, looking at the global situation, "House of the Dragon" was holding up well in third place, but "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" has fallen from third to fifth.
Looks like the Game of Thrones prequel series is set for a resounding win against Amazon's take on The Lord of the Rings. Could the last few episodes turn things on its head? Join us next week to find out!
