Rings of Power vs. House of the Dragon - Streaming Performance Week Ending September 18, 2022

Once again, we compare the streaming performance Amazon's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" and HBO's "House of the Dragon" thanks to data collected by streaming search engine JustWatch (data includes subscription streaming as well as transactional streaming titles).

The data is in for the week ending September 18, 2022, and is "Rings" running out of steam?

It's worth noting that "House of the Dragon" was also available on traditional cable networks and other non-streaming outlets that aren't counted in JustWatch's data, so in terms of overall eyeballs, "House of the Dragon" should be ahead.

In Australia, "House of the Dragon" leapfrogged Amazon's show and landed in 7th place, well ahead of the 10th place finish of the "Rings of Power". The situation was reversed from last week when "Rings" was second and "Dragon" was third. So that's score one for "Dragon".

Looking at the US charts, "House of the Dragon" was nowhere to be found. There have been some (unwarranted, IMO) rumblings coming out of the U.S about "Dragon" being "boring". "The Rings of Power" was a solid 6th, but down from its second-place finish last week. That's one each for the two shows.

And finally, looking at the global situation, "House of the Dragon" finished second, just ahead of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" in third place, reversing last week's finish.
