The Ultra HD revolution is coming to Stan, with the only major Australian owned streaming platform set to offer 4K streaming in April. The company also announced that offline viewing will be coming a month earlier in March, allowing subscribers to pre-download content and view it offline on the device of their choice.
Stan's 4K streaming, which is available initially on 2015 and 2016 model Samsung and LG TVs, as well as the PS4 Pro, will include all episodes of Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad, with more content being added throughout 2017 to shows including Wolf Creek, No Activity, Preacher, Mad Dogs, Transparent, Mozart In The Jungle, The Girlfriend Experience and Power.
And following in Netflix's footsteps (which followed in the footsteps of Amazon Prime), Stan will be adding an offline mode to the "vast majority" of its ever growing catalogue. Users of the Stan app on iOS and Android will be able to download shows and movies to their devices for offline viewing starting in March.
In further announcement, Stan also revealed a new exclusivity deal with Cartoon Network that will see Stan become the SVOD home of the network's popular children's entertainment programming. Stan also confirmed a second season for 'Wolf Creek', and six comedy specials to launch in March.
