As we count down to the last few weeks of 2016, those content folks at Stan are still busy giving us more content to binge on.
There's not much going on in terms of TV, other than new episodes of the weekly updated shows, so we'll skip straight to the movies,of which there are some excellent additions.
The "big" movie of the week is Will Smith's sports biographical drama, Concussion. Smith accomplished pathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu who works tirelessly, and against all odds, to uncover the truth behind one of the most devastating, and hidden, injuries for American football players.
There's also Sony's recent remake of Annie, while not a spectacular success (remakes seldom are), but still a fun family movie for the holidays. Those looking for something a bit bleaker should check out How I Live Now, an interesting premise that, had it not taken place in the UK, might otherwise be a reality to many civilians caught in the middle of armed conflict.
We talk about boat people and illegals and queue jumpers, but we rarely see a film that gives us more insight into the perilous journey of those being smuggled, and the actions and motivations of those doing the smuggling. The ending may leave many disappointed, but the journey is still worth it.
Other highlights include Halal Love (And Sex), which takes a funny look at the lives of Muslim men and women, and indie comedy hit Frank, and a great flick on Israeli, Palestinian conflict, The Green Prince.
