Netflix Originals:
Netflix has loosened its wallet and poured resources into its original programming, which has branched out into strong documentaries, comedy, series and children's shows. Let's have a look at what's on offer.
October brings new series Ranch (trailer), with stellar cast Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson and Sam Elliott as the Bennett men who ponder life and its complications. The complete first season is available to stream from October 7.
In Haters Back Off (trailer), Colleen Ballinger is Miranda Sings, a self absorbed teenager who uploads Youtube videos of herself singing while waiting for the world to recognise her various talents. Miranda believes she is famous, but nobody else knows it yet.
In 'Midnight Diner' ('Shinya Shokudo' - trailer), this Japanese film set in a late night eatery offers glimpses into the lives of the customers who visit the snack bar in downtown Tokyo.
Original movie Justin Timberlake and the Tennessee kids (trailer). Netflix has the exclusive global rights to distribute this film, which showcases the entertainer’s last two days of his 20/20 Experience World Tour at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Directed by Academy Award winner Jonathan Demme, and featuring performances from his Justin Timberlake's tour, the film is a strong finish for his 134 shows and two years on the road.
Children:
Netflix continues to build on well known brands such as Skylanders Academy, which follows a Skylanders team of mish mash heroes with unique elemental skills who travel the universe, while protecting it from chaos and evil. With Peabody and Sherman S3 arriving on the 21st, they team up with alter ego versions of themselves to battle an evil version of Mrs Hughes and fix the course of history! For younger viewers, turn on StoryBots Super Songs: S1, which will appeal to 3-8 year olds. You could also choose World Party S2 which focuses on vocabulary building and the developments of four adorable baby animals.
