Welcome to our new Binge Report format, where instead of tracking binge sessions, we are now keeping track of the most popular movies that Americans have been streaming or watching in cinemas, and original series that Americans have been streaming in the last week. For those interested in Australian numbers (provided to us by streaming search engine JustWatch), please have a look here

Netflix's Sex Education shot to the top of the streaming originals charts for the week of September 20 - September 26, 2021, based on tracking data provided to us by TV Time for the American market, while the digital debut of "Free Guy" was an instantly popular affair.

The TV Time app (iPhone and Android) helps users organise their streaming plans. The data here is tracked from American users of the app and some shows listed are not available in Australia without the use of a suitable VPN.

Movies:

As mentioned earlier, "Free Guy" was one of the two new entries in this week's Movie Ranker charts, coming in at second behind the still very hot "Shang-Chi". "Free Guy" was just released on premium video on demand in the U.S., but here in Australia, we're getting it as a free part of our Disney+ subscription.

The other new entry was M. Night Shyamalan's "Old", which is still in cinemas in the U.S.

Leaving the top 10 were "Reminiscence" and "The Voyeurs".

Television:

The third season of "Sex Education" grew in popularity and helped the show get to the top of the streaming originals chart, overtaking "Lucifer".

In terms of what's new to the top 10, the critically acclaimed Star Wars: Visions from Disney+ debuts at 5th place in the top 10. Netflix's South Korean series Squid Game has been getting some mentions online for its violence and social commentary, and so it isn't surprising to see it at 8th place on the U.S. chart (and 5th place on the Australian chart).

Leaving the top 10 were "Y: The Last Man" (quite a hasty exit for the show, which has received middling reviews) and "Evil".
