Another one of Netflix's Spanish original series has topped the chart after the show returned for a second season during the week of September 2 to 8, 2019. Elite unseated 13 Reasons Why from the top spot on the TV Time Binge Report top 10 chart for the week, somewhat easily with 9.45% of all binge sessions compared to only 6.94% for '13 Reasons Why' (a drop from 13.99% last week!).
TV Time calculates a binge session as when a viewer watches four or more episodes of the same show within a given day, as tracked by the TV Time (iPhone and Android) App. With most of TV Time's users being in the U.S., the binge data used in this report is therefore mainly reflective of the U.S. audience, and some shows listed are not available in Australia without the use of a suitable VPN.
Also re-entering the top 10 are perennial favourites Grey's Anatomy and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, in 5th and 10th place respectively.
With 3 new shows in the top 10, this meant that three shows had to leave to make way, and they were Stranger Things, Glee (which only returned to the top 10 last week), and another one of Netflix's Spanish hits, Money Heist.
The big mover this week was Orange Is the New Black, dropping from 5th place to 9th - could this be the last time the show finds a place in the top 10? Maybe not quite, but we're not far from that (unless Netflix does an OITNB movie or something which brings back the binge fervour).
