Stan now has more than 1 million active subscribers, the Australian streaming company has announced.
Stan, co-owned by Fairfax and the Nine network, revealed the news at a press event last week, and also used the event to announce new deals with several Hollywood studios.
With now over a million households now actively subscribing to Stan, CEO Mike Sneesby was quick to point to what a milestone this was. "The Australian television landscape continues to change rapidly and with that change, the ambitions and opportunities for Stan continue to grow. We have set out to pioneer the future of television in Australia and today’s subscriber milestone is a great indication of how quickly Aussies are changing their TV viewing habits," said Sneesby.
Sneesby also announced several multi-year exclusivity deals with Hollywood studios Lionsgate and MGM. The Lionsgate deal will now see content from Lionsgate owned STARZ join the Stan stable, with STARZ series Sweetbitter and Vida already streaming on Stan.
Stan has also signed a multi-year exclusive output deal with MGM, which will soon see MGM's Bond series finding a home on Stan, as well as series such as Get Shorty and Condor.
"With these new partnerships with STARZ & MGM its clear we’re only just getting started," said Sneesby.
