Well, we're officially into the second half of the year, and with a new month just starting, there's usually a glut of new additions to look forward to.
There's actually not much happening on TV yet, only the continuation of the usual suspects, 'Power', 'Younger', 'iZombie' and 'Preacher' - you'll note that some of the other weekly new episodes aren't available this week, and that's due to the Fourth of July holiday weekend over in the US at the moment.
Things are a bit different with movies, in that there are tons of new additions this week. Some of which have already been mentioned in our Stan: What's New in July article, but there are definitely a few classics that might be worth a (re)binge.
Good Will Hunting, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Marvin's Room allows you to sample the acting talents of some of today's biggest stars before they were that famous. Equally, The Cider House Rules, The Majestic, Thirteen Days and Where the Wild Things Are are films that are likely to leave a lasting impression, at least that was the case for me. The Handmaid's Tale is one of those rare films that's likely to be more relevant today than when it was release in 1990 (don't let the exploitative poster fool you - this one's a thinker).
The "new" movie of the week has to be the 2016 remake/sequel Blair Witch - just don't expect too much from this piece of nostalgic remaking. For true nostalgia, maybe try the two 'Ace Ventura' movies or the first two 'The Expendables' movies.
Notable mentions also goes to Jane Campion's (The Piano) Bright Star and Korean drama Time.
