Stan: What's New For 24 February - 2 March 2025

Mystery in the Mexican jungle, redefining classics, and Irish rap. These are just some of the highlights this week. Read on to find out more.

Television:

Stan's new exclusive series Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue premiered with the first episode, with new episodes arriving weekly. This crime mystery series focuses on survivors of a plane crash in the Mexican jungle, and someone who is killing them off one by one.

Movies, Documentaries:

We really need to redefine the term "classic" when it comes to movies. For people my age, classics meant something from before the 1970s, but it's nearly 34 years since Thelma & Louise was first released, and it fits into all other definitions of a classic. Less the case for Kalifornia, but it is still an iconic movie from the same period. No such qualms about labelling Some Like It Hot as a classic, though.

I remember going to a special preview of Species and everyone was given condoms as part of their SWAG pack, which didn't really make sense until we all watched the movie. The movie was interesting enough to spawn a sequel, Species II.

Bombshell reveals the inside story on the despicable Roger Ailes, the former head of Fox News, as told through some of the most famous faces for the network.

And finally, world movie fans should check out the delightful Kneecap. And yes, Ireland counts a foreign (and especially given the movie's subject matter about the preservation of a language that's not English).
