Top 10 Aussie Streaming Charts: Netflix Politics (Week Ending 21 July 2024)

Welcome again to our weekly feature where we look at the most popular streaming movies and TV shows in Australia based on data collected by streaming search engine JustWatch. Data includes subscription streaming as well as transactional streaming titles.Click here to read last week's roundup.

Movies:

Real-world politics and Netflix collide as Trump VP nominee's "story" Hillbilly Elegy jumps to second place on the streaming charts.

Nic Cage's post-apocalyptic action horror film Arcadian was third.

"Wonka" is still only on premium VOD here in Australia, but it will be coming soon to Binge (and possibly others), and it was 6th. The same goes for "The Holdovers", and it will be coming to Binge and Netflix next month - it was 7th.

Anatomy of a Fall is already on Stan and this one is an interesting watch as you'll have to decide who to believe. It's also an interesting look at the French justice system, plus it has Messi the dog, the best damn dog actor in these recent times. The Oscar-nominated film was 9th.

Netflix's Hit Man sneaks back into the top 10, in 10th.

"Love Lies Bleeding", "Brats", "Inside Out", "The Zone of Interest", "Despicable Me", and "Beverly Hills Cops: Axel Foley" all left the top 10.

Television:

The Paramount+ original Australian series "Fake" was the most-streamed TV show of the week.

The Roman-era drama series Those About to Die debuts in 4th place, while "Lady in the Lake" (Apple TV+) was 6th.

And following an epic amount of Emmy nominations, the historical epic Shōgun makes it back into the top 10, in 8th.

"Colin from Accounts", "My Lady Jane", "Sunny", and "True Detective" left the top 10 to make room.
