A bumper week of great content just landed on Stan. Let's check them out, shall we?
Normally in this section, we start with new shows over new seasons of existing shows, but when you're talking about high quality shows like The Handmaid's Tale and The Affair, it's worth mentioning them first. You can stream the entire third and fifth seasons of these shows right now, and I suggest you do (unless you've not started watching them yet, which means you need to start at season 1 right away).
That's not to say the new series aren't interesting, including the reboot of Punky Brewster, Polish drama Angel of Death, and sports drama
Head High.
The complete series of Indian Summers is also available, set in the days of British colonial rule in India.
There are also lots of high-quality movies arriving this week on Stan, in fact, everything that has arrived is a highlight in our opinion. Again, we are tempted to reverse the order and start with the classics over the newer films, but let's not break tradition twice this week.
I have a thing for submarine movies and I automatically add 2 points to their IMDb rating for them, which then makes Hunter Killer a classic film based on this formula. There is also the ensemble-rom-com Mother's Day, which they keep on making even though critics and moviegoers don't rate them. There is also Churchill, the other movie in the two-movie-with-similar-topic-released-in-the-same-year line-up that went up against the much superior Churchill film "Darkest Hour".
For those needing a gangster flick fix, we have three of the best this week in the form of American Gangster, Scarface ('83), and Casino.
And the second movie in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, Hot Fuzz, is a real delight. Yarp. Narp?
Sports doco fans should check out Bruno v Tyson and XV: Beyond The Try Line.
And finally, for the kids, Shaun the Sheep - The Movie is definitely well worth a watch.
