Binge Report: Trio of Netflix Series Enter Top 10 (September 16 - September 22, 2019)

Poster for Unbelievable

Netflix's Spanish original series Elite remained at the top of TV Time Binge Report top 10 chart for the week of September 16 - 22, 2019, but only just, as new entries threaten to topple the king of the last few weeks.

TV Time calculates a binge session as when a viewer watches four or more episodes of the same show within a given day, as tracked by the TV Time (iPhone and Android) App. With most of TV Time's users being in the U.S., the binge data used in this report is therefore mainly reflective of the U.S. audience, and some shows listed are not available in Australia without the use of a suitable VPN.

Disenchantment returned for a second season and this help it return to the top 10 chart in the number 2 spot with a 3.54% share of all binges. That's not too much behind Elite's 4.57%, which is down significantly from the 10.06% it earned last week.

Also new in the top 10 this week is Netflix's much-talked-about limited series Unbelievable, debuting in the top 10 at 5th. This is made more remarkable as the series only has 8 episodes, which means it's statistically harder for it to gain a large binge audience (remembering that only watching four or more episodes in the same day counts as a binge session - and believe me, 'Unbelievable' is not an easy watch that you can comfortably sit through four straight episodes of, especially the first four episodes).

And while critics have savaged it, with one review even calling it "dumb", Netflix's original sci-fi mystery series The I-Land also entered the top 10, at 10th, suggesting that either there are lots of masochists out there, or that the critics might be wrong.

Making way for the new entries were the shows Mindhunter, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and How I Met Your Mother (the latter two might make a return soon since they're always popular).
