Netflix Australia: What's New in June 2018

Poster for Dunkirk
Krystle Shrimpton Tue, 29/05/2018 - 13:11

This June schedule is like the ever delightful box of chocolates, with plenty of great surprises, and comforting favourites returning for renewed seasons. Let's unwrap the goodies and have a look at the stand outs this month.

More Luke Cage (trailer), more Harlem chaos and bullets pinging off his indestructible skin. As the uneasy hero gets back into it, enter Bushmaster (Mustafa Shakir), who manages to land a few punches. I'm really keen to see the true power in Misty's new arm, so I'll be ready on June 22.

Following the roaring success of Season 1, Nailed it! (trailer) Brings the meme of 'this is what I was trying to cook' vs 'what I ended up with' visual to a whole new side splitting action. Watch these funny, optimistic folks try to reproduce a cake creation – and unveil their cloches to their catastrophes!

Glow S2 (trailer) - Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling Season 2 return with the launch of the famed late night cable TV show, (famously taped in Las Vegas in the Riviera Hotel and Casino.) Welcome back to the 80's with Michael Sembello’s Maniac, and pull on your leg warmers, flash your neon lights, leotards, and bust out the hairspray for your big hair.

A few other TV series which are returning, or continuing their weekly offerings: Ranch Part 5
Jane the Virgin S4, Line for Duty S4, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend S3, Busted, Season 1 Finale, and The Break with Michelle Wolf, Shooter S3, and Marcella S2.

Some great additions to the kids choices, such as Illumination's Secret Life of Pets (trailer), Voltron S6, The Lego Ninjago Movie, Harvey Street Kids, produced in collaboration with Dreamworks, based on Harvey Comics, Treehouse Detectives, and Hotel Translyvania 2.

If you missed it the first time, catch the diabolical, obsessed ballet principal Natalie Portman, and newcomer Mila Kunis in Black Swan (trailer). In Dunkirk (trailer), Christopher Nolan brings his unique style and storytelling interpretation of the Dunkirk evacuation of WWII. And In Brain on Fire (trailer), young journalist Susannah Cahalan is diagnosed with a rare brain disorder, which evaded detection for many months.

Three rom com choices on offer: Young highschool student Alex Truelove (trailer) is just about ready to give up on the search when he makes a new friend, and has to come to grips his feelings.

In Set it Up (trailer), two overworked personal assistants set up their bosses in a bid for more personal space, it might have kicked off – but are they the right match as well? Starring Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs.

And In Lust Stories (trailer), this anthology collaboration with four directors weaves four modern stories about love and romance in India. Spoken in Hindi with smattering of English (subtitles available for the curious).

Comedy - Hannah Gadsby 'Nannette' (trailer). Homegrown talent, and winner of the 2017 Barry award for the most outstanding performance at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Intensely personal and powered by a heartfelt narrative from her life journal to acceptance of her sexuality, this may be her swan song as she retires to Launceston.

Plenty more to discover, dive in and have a crack at the list below!
