March is here, and that means lovely Autumn weather here in the Southern Hemisphere. What is also means, at least at Stan, is a whole bunch of new stuff to watch, something to suit every taste.
Starting with TV as we usually do, the new show to watch out for in March (at least according to the amount of PR coming in from Stan's media relations department) is the music drama series Rise (premiering March 14, new episodes express from the US every Wednesday). Starring Josh Radnor of 'How I Met Your Mother' fame, based on the best selling book 'Drama High', which was based on a true story. Radnor plays a teacher that takes over a school's lacklustre theatre department, and galvanizes not only the faculty and students, but the entire working-class town.
The other big premier is the season 3 premier of the Stan exclusive 'Billions', new episodes start flowing in March 25.
My personal pick is the Australia comedy documentary series 'Luke Warm Sex', starring the always funny Luke McGregor.
There are also quite a few highlights in terms of movie additions. 'White House Down' (March 25) and 'London Has Fallen' (March 29) sounds like they could be sequels, but they are actually two competing series ('Olympus Has Fallen', of which 'London Has Fallen' is a sequel, was in direct competition with the similarly themed 'White House Down', both came out in the same year too). Sci-fi fans should check out 'Elysium' (March 15), which in my personal opinion was nowhere as good as 'District 9' and slightly worse than 'Chappie', but still entertaining all the same - all are films by South African director Neill Blomkamp.
Classics this month include 'A Few Good Men' (March 3) and 'Stand By Me' (March 24).
For the kids, there's 'Hotel Transylvania' (March 31) 'Hotel Transylvania 2' (March 1) - don't know why the sequel arrives sooner than the original on Stan - and there's also 'Ready, Steady, Wiggle: Season 1' (March 29) for the slightly younger audience.
