Welcome to February at Hulu where binge-worthy TV series are stacked up for your viewing pleasure. Revisit old classics (did you know that Hulu streams every single episode of ER?) or catch new Hulu Originals – there really is so much to choose from. And of course, if you’re looking for long format viewing, there are plenty of movie additions to see you through the month. Let’s check out the highlights.
Brand new series The Looming Tower begins streaming this month. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning bestseller by author Lawrence Wright, the 10-episode series examines the lead-up to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States. With the threat posed by Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda increasing, the series explores how the rivalry between the CIA and FBI may have unintentionally contributed to the resulting 2001 tragedy. Boasting an impressive cast including Jeff Daniels (Godless), Peter Sarsgaard (Wormwood), Katie Flahive (Nurse Jackie) and Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), the series begins streaming February 28.
Also premiering this month is new series Good Girls. Described by Vogue.com as “Somewhere between Big Little Lies and Breaking Bad,” the series tells the story of three suburban mums fed up with trying to make ends meet. In an effort to change their lives for the better, the women band together to rob their local supermarket. Naturally, things don’t go to plan in this comedic drama. Starring Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Retta (Parks and Recreation) and Mae Whitman (Parenthood), you can catch it from February 27.
Also available for your streaming pleasure, don’t miss the highs and lows of the Braverman family in Parenthood. With a fabulous cast including Peter Krause (Six Feet Under) and Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), all six seasons are available to stream from February 15. Season 1 of Brockmire arrives February 9 and tells the story of a big time major league baseball announcer who has to piece his life back together after a very public breakdown. Hank Azaria (Ray Donovan) and Amanda Peet (The Good Wife) star. If you prefer your action comedy animated, then season 8 of Archer: Dreamland should scratch that itch. Also look out for complete series of Cougar Town, One Tree Hill and Everwood.
As always, new movie titles have been added to Hulu this February. If you’re wondering what was considered funny back in 1988, you can’t go past A Fish Called Wanda. This comedy crime caper stars beloved British comedian, John Cleese (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), Jamie Lee Curtis (Scream Queens) and earned American actor Kevin Kline (Life as a House) an Oscar. Cleese, renowned for his work with comedy troupe Monty Python, also co-wrote the screenplay so there’s every chance that what was funny 30 years ago is still funny today.
Other movies to note include Detroit and The Hurt Locker, both directed by Oscar award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), popular graphic novel series turned critically acclaimed film Sin City, and enchanting French language film Amelie starring Audrey Tautou (The Da Vinci Code).
