It's a new year on Stan, but in many ways, it's just another month when it comes to getting new content on the Australian owned streaming platform.
It's a slightly quieter month, with many U.S. shows on their "winter" breaks, many of the weekly new episode shows are not coming back until February or later. But that doesn't mean there aren't good TV shows to watch in January, and starting on the first day of 2018, we have the much anticipated Australian TV series 'Romper Stomper'. A remake of the classic Russell Crowe movie, but updated for today, the much talked about series may be even more relevant today considering what is happening in Australia and around the world. The complete season 1 streams on New Year's Day.
Another brilliant Australian series, Love Child, has its entire season 4 coming January 4.
This one is a personal favourite of mine. The Office, the U.S. version, comes to Stan on January 25, with all 9 seasons available for streaming on that day. I have to admit that this is a show that I've already binge watched from beginning to end on a rival streaming platform, but have been looking to doing it again ever since it was removed from that other platform which shall remain unnamed. It's a great "get" for Stan.
Another Stan exclusive is Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams, with the rest of season 1 (episodes 7 -10) arriving on January 12.
For movies, most of the additions are World Movies, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as these are movies you probably haven't seen (or even heard of). The Man with Thousand Faces, A Bag of Marbles and Fog In August are my personal recommendations.
