Welcome to another week of new content spotlights on Stan.
It's been a pretty quiet week in terms of new content coming to Stan, both in terms of TV content and movies. But that's not to say there aren't a few real highlights.
Australian sitcom has seen better days, and I'm not sure if Here Come the Habibs! counts as a plus or a minus in the annals of sitcom-dom. The fact that it now has a second season (the first season of 6 episodes is available to stream on Stan right now), probably suggests that it's not the worst thing in the world?
For movies, there are some really interesting additions, at least in my opinion. Passengers didn't do particularly well at the box office, but for sci-fi fans, it's definitely worth your time. The trailer is a bit misleading in parts, but that just means you should go into the movie with a clean slate. I'm personally right in the middle of watching The Founder, a biopic on Ray Kroc, the "founder" of McDonald's. It's an interesting story, well acted by Michael Keaton, who is enjoying a renaissance career wise after being fantastic in a lot of things in the 80's and early 90s. It's by no means just an ad for McDonald's, and its main protagonist may also be the film's main antagonist.
Bridesmaids is a lot funnier, and has a lot more heart, than movie of this genre typically has (or from what's suggested from the film's few iconic scenes, especially the wedding dresses scene). Well worth a watch.
