JB Hi-Fi has announced its NOW digital platform will close in April, taking with it one of the only two remaining ways Australians can watch their UltraViolet content online.
The closure of NOW follows the closure of EzyFlix, another UltraViolet provider, shortly after the arrival of Netflix in Australia. With the Channel 7 and Foxtel backed Presto having closed in January too, JB Hi-Fi's little used NOW services was the next natural casualty.
But this leaves Australians with only one choice when it comes to watching their UltraViolet Content, the Warner Bros. owned Flixster. Many DVD and Blu-ray titles come with a redeemable code for the UltraViolet, which via a supported platform like NOW, EzyFlix, allowed users to download or stream the digital version of the film for free.
The good news for UltraViolet film collectors is that their entire NOW UltraViolet library can be transferred to Flixster simply by creating an account on the site and linking to your UltraViolet account. Users will then be able to watch all their UltraViolet movies without disruption - that is until Flixster decides to pull out of the Australian market, much like how Disney has scrapped their version of UltraViolet, Digital Copy Plus, just recently.
JB Hi-Fi NOW will officially close its digital doors on April 13.
