It's a new year on Stan, and with Presto on the way out, and Amazon on the way in, it's more important than ever for Stan to give their subscribers the right content, both in terms of quantity and quality.

Let's start with what's new on TV for January, and it's a case of 1, 2, 3 and 4. For this to work, we have to start with the new American slave error drama produced by none other than John Legend, ''Underground'. The complete season 1 is available for unlimited streaming come January 24th. Coming at the end of January is season 2 of the sci-fi series 'Under the Dome', as we catch up again with the residents of Chester's Mill as they search for answers and solutions to their predicament.

Ray Donovan season 3 is available for streaming on January 13th, the award winning series that follows the professional "fixer" of the same name as the serie's title.

Hope you're beginning to see what the "1, 2, 3 and 4" is about, as we leave the best til last. 'Sherlock' returns for a fourth season of the critically acclaimed modern take on the classic detective stories, with 3 more exhilarating episodes coming every Monday starting January 2nd.

(There are actually other new TV additions, such as season 6 of the hilarious 'Trollied', and new series 'BrainDead' and 'Battle Creek', the former from the creators of 'The Good Wife' and the latter from Breaking Bad's Vince Gilligan, but it didn't fit into my "1, 2, 3 and 4" narrative)

For movies, there are some great and well known additions for the new year as well. Previous Oscar contenders joining Stan include 'The Imitation Game', 'Foxcatcher' and 'American Sniper', all well worth your time if you haven't seen them before. Another one that's worth checking out is 'Filth', starring James McAvoy as a corrupt, drug addicted cop.

There are also some great world movies that you should add to your watch list, including 'The Hunt' starring Star Wars: Rogue One's Mads Mikkelsen. From France, there's the emotionally raw 'Amour', and from Mexio, there's the sexually explicit and funny 'Y Tu Mama Tambien'. Epic Chinese history is on show in the two part 'Red Cliff', directed by legendary director John Woo.

There are still tons of other great content being added, so check out the entire list of additions for January below:
