The final month of 2016 brings the usual mix of great TV and enjoyable movies to Stan.
From the minds behind Breaking Bad, and co-created by Seth Rogen, comes a new take on the supernatural genre in the form of 'Preacher'. Based on the cult classic comic book series, 'Preacher' tells the story of, surprisingly, a preacher who gains the supernatural power to be able to command anyone with just a single word, who then works together with a vampire on his search for God. Nope, you're not on an acid trip. It stars Agent Carter's Dominic Cooper, along with Ruth Negga (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Joseph Gilgun (This is England).
Other exclusive TV series include season 3 of 'Mozart in the Jungle' and season 2 of 'Aquitted'. For new TV series, season 2 of the Showtime hit 'Penny Dreadful' comes to Stan on December 27th. Also new is 'The Last Panthers', starring Samantha Morton (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), and acting great John Hurt, the crime drama takes a look at the seedy underworld of modern Europe, and a conspiracy that involves the government, the banks and drug dealers.
There are also some pretty great movies coming to Stan in December. Brie Larson is fantastic in both 'Short Term 12' and 'Room', both powerful dramas focusing on people that have been damaged by their past, and are looking forward to moving on. Brie Larson got an Oscar for 'Room' and it was very well deserved.
Other movies that deserves your time include 'Frank', Will Smith in 'Concussion', banned Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi's 'Taxi Tehran', and worthy of your time or not, there's yet another Nicholas Sparks novel-turned-movie in 'The Choice'.
