Netflix fans who want to know what our American friends are enjoying on Netflix US this November, read on! There are series premieres mixed with old school classics and plenty more in between.

Netflix continues their quest to add more original content, premiering the highly anticipated new series, The Crown - Season 1, on November 4. Over 10 episodes, the historical drama focuses on Queen Elizabeth II as a 25-year-old newlywed faced with the daunting prospect of leading the world's most famous monarchy during a particularly turbulent period in British history. Through carefully researched scripts, The Crown aims to tell the private story of a very public journey. Starring Claire Foy (Wolf Hall) as Queen Elizabeth II and John Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun) as Prime Minister of the time, Sir Winston Churchill.

Paranoid: Season 1 centres around the murder of a female GP in a rural playground in front of numerous witnesses. The detectives charged with investigating find themselves drawn into the heart of a dark and mysterious web, travelling across Europe in search of answers and aided by mysterious notes sent by the "Ghost Detective". Game of Thrones fans will recognise Indira Varma for her role as Ellaria Sand who infamously witnessed her paramour’s death at the hands of the Mountain. Here she plays detective, Nina Suresh.

Nothing stirs feverish anticipation more than a classic and beloved series being resurrected, and so it goes with Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Fans are breathless to catch up with single mum, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and her daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel). This four-parter reveals that while Lorelai has stayed on in Stars Hollow, Rory has started a new life in London. Fans can expect to see lots of familiar faces and hear the pithy banter delivered at breakneck speed by television’s most adored mother/daughter duo.

Looking for a true film classic? The African Queen (1951) is set in Africa during World War 1 and tells the story of a riverboat captain with a penchant for gin who is persuaded by a prim and puritanical missionary to use his boat to attack an enemy warship. Starring Katharine Hepburn (On Golden Pond) and Humphrey Bogart (Casablanca), both earned Oscar nominations for their performances (Bogart took home a statue, Hepburn did not).

What about a spot of retro horror? Cujo is the 1983 film based on the novel by literary superstar, Stephen King, about a St Bernard who contracts rabies and terrorises a small town. The film stars no-one you’ve ever heard of and shockingly, was not nominated for an Oscar. I don’t know if what was scary in 1983 still seems scary in 2016 but when I was a little girl, I saw the trailer for Cujo and had nightmares for weeks. Enjoy!

Now to take the edge off, you should watch Dana Carvey: Straight White Male, 60. The comedian, best known for his role as Garth in the cult classic, Wayne’s World (Mike Myers), brings his unique brand of funny to this stand-up special. And yes, the 60 refers to Carvey’s actual age. Garth is 60 and if that doesn’t blow your mind, then nothing will.
