Summer fun is winding down for our American friends and as the weather cools, people log more time inside on their couches. Cue sparkly new content to enjoy.

Hotly anticipated new action series, Marvel’s Luke Cage, comes to Netflix this month. Fans of series Jessica Jones will recognise the character of Cage played by Mike Colter. Colter returns in this spin-off as Cage, a man given superhuman strength and durability after an experiment is sabotaged. Accused of a crime he did not commit, Cage escapes prison and becomes a superhero for hire. Prepared to be saved from September 30.

For true crime drama, don’t miss documentary, Amanda Knox. In late 2007, the young American student on exchange in Perugia, Italy found her name splashed across newspapers worldwide. She and her boyfriend at the time, Raffaele Sollecito, became prime suspects in the murder investigation of their housemate, British exchange student, Meredith Kercher. The documentary follows their conviction and eventual acquittal, and in a coup for the filmmakers, Rod Blackhurst and Brian McGinn, both Knox and Sollecito along with the Italian prosecutor on the case agreed to be interviewed on camera.

Netflix Original Chef’s Table: France will appeal to foodies everywhere. Head into the lives and kitchens of six international chefs whose culinary talents are revered the world over. Featured chefs include Dan Barber, chef and co-owner of Blue Hill in Manhattan whose approach to cuisine focuses on food sustainability, and Massimo Botturo, an Italian restaurateur and chef patron of the three-Michelin-star restaurant, Osteria Francescana.

Film buffs can sink their teeth into the entire Jaws franchise – you may be surprised to know there are four films in all. And after floating in that nostalgic 1980s sea, why not head inland for some small town fun where dancing is illegal and Kevin Bacon is the man to save us all. Yes, Footloose is available for streaming and not a moment too soon. Worth it for the soundtrack alone. And Bacon. Who doesn’t love Bacon?

Those looking for kid-friendly content would be well advised to check out Zootopia. The Disney animation is voiced by a host of stars including Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time) and Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) and absolutely slayed at the box office when it was released earlier this year. The sloth scene is particularly brilliant.

New seasons of a bunch of series favourites are also on offer including Shameless: Seasons 5 and 6 starring William H. Macy (Room) as the drunken head of a deeply dysfunctional family. Popular Netflix Original Narcos returns for Season 2 continuing the gritty chronicling of real life Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar. And hipsters everywhere will deny recognising themselves in the cult hit, Portlandia, which returns for Season 6.

And there’s lots more where that came from. Check out the full list below.
