Stan: What's New For 24 - 30 May, 2016

The last full week of May brings some new comedy, some old classics, and always something to watch while you wrap your hand around a cuppa as the weather starts getting cold.

Starting with TV, there's the first season of a new crime comedy series Angie Tribeca. Created by Nancy and Steve Carell (yes, that Steve "The Office" Carell), and starring Parks and Rec's Rashida Jones, this show aims to be a parody of the countless number of crime shows that you can see on TV (and on Stan). Early reviews have only been average, but who knows, it might tickle you in the right place.

Binge watchers will now be able to watch the complete series of The Hills.

Fans of political stand-up should check out John Oliver's Terrifying Times - I managed to catch him live when he was touring Melbourne last year, and despite him doing something different now with This Week Tonight, John Oliver is still a master stand-up comedian.

Onto the flicks, the pick of the week is the German anti-war film Stalingrad, portraying the epic struggle, but from a German perspective. There is also Ryan Reynold's Self/less, the movie that was released just before the box office smash Deadpool made Reynolds a truly Hollywood A-lister.

There's also Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst's The Two Faces of January, and foreign film fans are well served this week by Next Time I'll Aim For The Heart and the French/Belgium/South African production Ladygrey.

Here's a complete list of the new additions to Stan for the week 24 - 30 May, 2016:
