Foxtel is reminding TV and movie lovers to not forget the pay TV provider's own on-demand service, Foxtel Anytime, as pressure mounts from streaming only providers such Stan and Netflix.
While Foxtel has invested in their own streaming only service, Presto, it's also keen to ensure it does not lose any customers to the much cheaper (and thus, much less profitable) Presto, and the company has recently taken efforts to revitalise its existing on-demand and live streaming platform, Foxtel Anytime.
The first step was taken last December when compatibility was expanded for Foxtel's mobile app, Foxtel Go, to include all Android devices - previously, Foxtel Go was only available on Samsung Android smartphones, and iOS devices. The Foxtel Go app also allows live streaming of any or all Foxtel channels, as long as these channels are in your subscription package, as well as on-demand viewing of selected programming in these packages.
For most TV shows though, only a selected handful of episodes are available to stream at any time in on-demand fashion via Anytime, but in a bid to take on the likes of Stan and Netflix, Foxtel will be expanding its on-demand offerings starting in April. Foxtel will be offering complete seasons of shows like 'Game of Thrones' and 'The Walking Dead' for instant on-demand streaming on Anytime (for those that have the required channel package), as well as adding more new and classic movies to its on-demand movie library, including 'Jurassic World' and the complete 'Harry Potter' saga. In fact, many of the new programming additions will mirror the additions being made to Foxtel backed Presto in April, and so a lot of the new content that should be familiar to those that have already read our Presto: What's New in April article.
