Quickflix is betting that the future of home video will be streaming based, after the company announced a new range subscription plans, and removed the availability of a disc-only plan.

Previously, movie lovers had to pay $24.99 to access Quickflix's "WatchNow" streaming service, now simply re-branded as "Unlimited Streaming". Under the new plans, all it takes is 14.99 per month to access the streaming library, and this also includes unlimited disc rental per month, one disc at a time.

The $14.99 plan replaces the once-upon-a-time available $12.99 plan, which includes the same disc rental allowance, but did not include streaming.

Quickflix streaming includes a range of "pay per play" new release titles, including hits such as Les Miserables and Wreck-It-Ralph. It also includes unlimited streaming of more than 500 older movie titles, as well as the much sought after "HBO Collection" - a collection of older HBO hits including The Sopranos and The Wire, and older seasons of new shows like Boardwalk Empire.

Existing customers can choose to stick with their existing "disc-only" plans, or upgrade to the new plans.
