The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Episode 6

Once again, we compare the streaming performance Amazon's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" and HBO's "House of the Dragon" thanks to data collected by streaming search engine JustWatch (data includes subscription streaming as well as transactional streaming titles).

The data is in for the week ending October 9, 2022. Can "Rings of Power" produce a late comeback as the first season winds down, or is the domination of "House of the Dragon" going to continue?

In Australia, "House of the Dragon" jumped up to 4th place, but once again, "Rings of Power" didn't get into the top 10. Not great. It's also worth noting again that JustWatch only counts streaming data, so there's actually more people not being included here who are watching "House of the Dragon" on traditional cable - there is no traditional cable audience for "Rings".

Again, neither show made the U.S. top 10 this week.

And finally, looking at the global situation, both "House of the Dragon" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" slid down the chart, but the HBO show still ranked higher, 5th compared to 7th. Amazon will probably be happy with the show's global performance right now, since "House of the Dragon" has "Game of Thrones" to draw upon, whereas this is the first proper TV adaptation of Tolkien's epic.
