A fantastic festive episode for Will and Grace airs Dec 7, and continuing series SMILF, The Girlfriend Experience, and Good Behaviour also keep coming on the weekends.
Another Stan original production, from Director Greg McLean, Wolk Creek (trailer) returns with a brand new season. After a chance encounter with pig hunter Mick Taylor (John Jarratt) and a busload of international thrill- seeking tourists on a visit to the dry Outback, their plans are derailed when the bus stops in the middle of nowhere and they are forced to search for help. A whole new cast and new storyline, this six part series arrives on December 15.
Homegrown Aussie series Doctor Doctor (trailer) joins the Stan library in December. Heart surgeon Dr Hugh Knight (Roger Corser) is sent to his hometown of Whyhope as its rural GP, in disgrace as a punishment from by the Medical Tribunal. On his return, he finds that all is not well, and things have changed. All episodes available Dec 19.
Richard Roxburgh's Cleaver Greene is back with season 4 of Rake (trailer), full of more mischief and tricky situations. This current season will bring you up to date, with a fantastic array of guests such as Miriam Margolyes, Julia Blake, Jack Charles to keep you coming back for more.
Mr Fuzzypants (2016 - trailer) - Mr Brand is a successful businessman with a wife and young daughter who misses him. In a stroke of good luck (or karma?) Mr Brand somehow becomes trapped as a cat and who must learn to spend more time with his family. Starring Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Gardner and Christopher Walken.
In an excellent addition to world movies, the Infernal Affairs Trilogy (Cantonese) starring Andy Lau and Tony Leung is one of the best. Two double agents are placed in the Chinese Triads and Police Force, creating a delicious tension as to how each keeps up his cover. Includes stellar performances by mob boss Eric Tsang and Anthony Wong.
Never one to shy from a difficult subject, documentary film maker, and Louis Theroux pursues higher knowledge as he tries to gain access to the mysterious and controlling Scientology group in Louis Theroux: My Scientology Movie (trailer). Directed by John Dower and starring Louis Theroux himself, this doco tries to draw back the curtains, as it were, and even shows the repeated attempts by the Scientology group to intimidate and restrain him. Pop it on if you like his style.
In Rendition (2007 - trailer), Isabella El-Ibrahimi (Reese Witherspoon) is the wife of an Egyptian engineer, tries desperately to track down her husband after he disappears on an international flight. Her husband was spirited away on suspicions of alleged terrorism links, and stark focus is shone on the interrogation and torture techniques that are sometimes used in the quest for information. A wonderful cast includes Meryl Streep, Peter Sarsgaard and Jake Gyllenhaal.
