It's a new month on Stan, the first without fellow competitors Presto, so let's see what the content boffins at Stan HQ has in store for us.
TV wise, it's actually pretty quiet, with the complete series (well by UK standards, that means 3 or 4 episodes each) of the superb This Is England '86 and This Is England '88, both based on the equally superb movie This is England. The film looked at the skinhead culture in the UK, before it was hijacked by racist elements that's more commonly associated with the term "skinhead" today, while the miniseries focus on the other scenes that sprang up in the mid and late 80's, such as punk.
It's movies where we have a whole bunch of new stuff to add watch or add to our watch-list (and then never actually watch it). Two 'Austin Powers' movies, three 'Jurassic Park' flicks, two out of the three in (Swedish version of) 'The Millennium series' - that's just the start. There's also Trainspotting, just in time for a catch-up before the sequel hits screens later in the month.
For those looking for something newer, then Grimsby, the latest film from Borat creator/star Sacha Baron Cohen, might be your cup of tea.
Some other highlights include Will Ferrell's Stranger Than Fiction, Spain's The Orphanage is a must-see for fans of movies like 'Pan's Labyrinth' and 'The Devil's Backbone', while Iceland's Rams might give you some insight into a way of life that may seem very alien to modern audiences.
