The first full week of 2016 brings a few laughs, tears, and suspense to the Stan streaming library.

Oscar contender Prisoners it well worth a watch for the gritty performances by the movie's leads, Australian Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The second and third parts of Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy, The Girl Who Played with Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, arrives on Stan as well - catch these Swedish film versions of the books, as the U.S. English versions appears to be off the cards for the foreseeable future.

You can never go wrong with a Werner Herzog doco, and Cave of Forgotten Dreams is no exception, examining the famous Chauvet caves of Southern France in Herzog's unique style.

For some real laughs, check out three newly added seasons of the British comedy Trollied.

The hidden gem award of the week is a tie between the crazy and twisted Japanese action comedy Why Don't You Play in Hell? and the UK drama The Selfish Giant.
